Tastes of Lincolnshire announced recently the winners of their awards that distinguish establishments serving excellent Lincolnshire produce.
During a luncheon at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa business from all over the county gathered to discover whether they’d been triumphant.
This is the 3rd year that Tastes of Lincolnshire has awarded those who have combined great Lincolnshire food with running their individual businesses.
The awards recognise businesses both small and large. From guesthouses serving locally sourced breakfast eggs and bacon to bakeries passionate about plumbread. And from a specialist shop showcasing Lincolnshire produce to pubs serving sizzling Lincolnshire sausages amongst other top quality Lincolnshire produce.
“The awards are an important part of the Tastes of Lincolnshire brand and it gives us an opportunity to highlight our members that really go the extra mile for their visitors and guests. As we judge the awards via a mystery shopper, visit we know that winners offer an excellent visit from start to finish. They are knowledgeable about the Lincolnshire produce, take pride in showcasing the county’s food and offer an excellent, friendly service to all.” Said Lydia Rusling of Tastes of Lincolnshire.
Tastes of Lincolnshire has introduced a new accolade for this year’s awards ceremony. The ‘Mr George’ Award celebrates an individual who has gone that extra mile to promote local produce from Lincolnshire.
Tastes of Lincolnshire was a great fan of George Bateman, third generation of the family run brewery, who sadly died in 2007. Known to one and all as ‘Mr George’, he was a great supporter of all things Lincolnshire and his enthusiasm and love for his county ran through everything he did. Such dedication is recognised with this award that values Tastes of Lincolnshire’s enthusiastic members, who not only promote their own business but all the food and drink that this county produces.
This year’s winner of the award, Sue Locking of Perkins’ Pantry said “I am over the moon and a bit over-whelmed. I have always tried to promote Lincolnshire and encourage guests to come here as I am extremely proud of the county. I am very honoured and feel quite privileged to recieve this award.”
