Visit to Battle of the Bangers 2010

25 September 2010 One Comment

The day finally arrived and off we went to the Norwich Battle of the Bangers!

To say I had been excited about this is an understatement.  Seven of the finest butchers in Norfolk all competing for the title.  No gimmicks, no tricks, just a public vote.

The format is simple, try each sausage and then vote for your favourite.  This year it was packed!  Hundreds of people an hour seemed to be passing around the seven stalls trying the finest sausage offerings.  Talking to people it is clear that people are getting more and more concerned about where the meat for their sausages comes from.  Many of the entrants were very happy to talk about their pork suppliers and a great source of pork is clearly doing wonders for their sausages.

I found Matt Cockin of Fruit Pig Company fame at the event so roped him in to helping me make this short video:

After trying all of the sausages on offer, many more than once, I can honestly say it was hard to decide where to put my cross on the voting sheet.

I will publish the final results here as soon as I know them.

Who did you vote for?
