A devon company which produces award-winning sausages has been short-listed for a national business award.Westaways Sausages, at Newton Abbot, will be competing for the title of New Exporter of the Year, sponsored by UK Trade and Investment, in the Food from Britain Export Awards.
The awards, run in association with The Grocer magazine, bring together the country’s top export companies. They will be announced at the Landmark London Hotel on Wednesday, December 19.
Westaways has increased its international sales by 750 per cent in the last year and now exports to countries including France, Spain and China.
Westaways marketing director Charles Baughan said: “We are really delighted to have been short-listed. We have had a hands-on approach to developing our export market, and have faced challenges along the way, so it is great for all our hard work to be recognised.”
John Adams, chief executive officer of Food from Britain, said: “Westaways deserves to have been short-listed.”
