Superquinn may be gone folks but the sausage will stay

The chain’s 24 stores being renamed Supervalu but the sacred sausage will stay on the shelves.

Sausage lovers will be delighted to know the famous Superquinn banger is going nowhere – even if the shop brand itself is disappearing.

Chris Martin, Musgrave Group CEO, said: “Importantly, consumers will continue to enjoy all that they love from Superquinn’s heritage including its in-store ambience, great range, food experts and quality products such as the famous Superquinn sausage.”

The Superquinn sausage has been part of Irish tradition since 1979.

After seeing the success of the German sausage, Fergal Quinn decided that he wanted to create a really tasty sausage with the help of customers on a tasting panel.

Superquinn said last year: “The Irish nation truly loves the Superquinn sausage with approximately half a million Superquinn Sausages consumed in Ireland every week and 65 thousand consumed each day.”
