School pupils cook up funds with custom sausages

Children from Lady Seaward’s School have found out more about where their food comes from and raised some money for their school by teaming up with Darts Farm.

The farm’s butchers visited the school in Clyst St George to give the pupils the chance to create their own bespoke sausage.

Having discussed various flavour options, the youngsters came up with pork, cheddar cheese and sun-dried tomato, which they then put together with butcher Alastair David to create the Lady Seaward’s Sausage.

This then went on sale at Darts Farm, with £1 for every pound of sausage sold going to the school’s PTA. Some £38 was raised from the sale of the sausages, with the butchers generously topping the total up to £50.

Alastair said: “It was great to get the children involved from start to finish, and the sausages tasted delicious.”
