Sausages with a difference at The Harwood

IT’S not only lager and bitter that’s being served by the pint in one Harrogate pub – but sausages too!

The Harwood, in Pannal, has just added Yorkshire ‘saus-ale-ges’ to its extensive menu, aimed at tempting the taste buds of both real ale and food lovers.

The hostelry, which was reopened last month by landlord David Wraight and his partner Angela Healey, has a policy to use local ingredients wherever possible.

Beers for the new dishes, created by head chef Mark Young, include Theakston’s, Black Sheep and Timothy Taylors.

It is also hoped that the range will eventually include a regular guest beer banger each month.

The first person to be invited to sample the new saus-ale-ges was Simon Theakston, managing director of Masham-based T&R Theakston, who tucked into a Theakston, Pork and Apple banger.

He said: “Our beer is known the world over and I’m sure The Harwood’s saus-ale-ges will very soon become as equally popular and famous.

“A pint of sausages washed down by a pint of beer will certainly appeal to lot of people, especially real ale fanatics.”
