Sausages provide fun competition for a serious cause

THE WORLD Rugby Cup clash between South Africa and England will help a fundraising drive in memory of a Malvern woman who died from cancer last month.

Heather Partridge died on September 26, from lung cancer, and was nursed in her final days by people at St Richard’s Hospice. It was her wish that the charity should not be forgotten.

Now proceeds from a rugby-themed sausage tasting event at Malvern Country Meals, where her husband, Colin works, will raise funds for St Richard’s and help to keep Heather’s memory alive.

Mr Partridge said: “This means a tremendous amount to me. It is fantastic.”

Mr Partridge and the manager of Malvern Country Meals, Matthew Lancett, is hoping that rugby-linked sausage tastings will raise a lot of money Mr Lancett said: “Customers are being asked to taste South Africa’s finest, the meaty and spicy Boerwors, and to compare it with Malvern’s own Victorian sausage.

“This was created from original recipes seven years ago, by myself and shop owner, Chrys Titshall.

He said of the cause: “Colin joined the team three years ago and i knew Heather. This is something we can do for the family.”

The tastings began on Wednesday, October 17 and will end at 4pm tomorrow, Saturday, October 20.

Customers have been able to participate in the battle of the bangers by either making a purchase or giving an donation to the hospice.
