James Pirie & Son
Established in 1960 in the Angus village of Newtyle, we are a family business, well known for our quality handmade produce. Pride of place amongst the 170 awards we have won for our sausages, haggis, pies and innovative products, are the 2005 SCOTTISH HAGGIS CHAMPION and 2005 SCOTTISH SAUSAGE CHAMPION – a unique double achievement for a scottish butcher. Our most recent accolade is a Gold Award for our Scotch Pie in the 2016 Scotch Pie Awards.
We are proud to support Scottish farmers and all our meat has full traceability back to local Scottish farms. One of our most popular products is dry cured bacon which is cured in Newtyle using local pork.
In 2013 we transformed the adjoining shop into a kitchen and our very experienced chef is creating a new range of ready meals, pies and pizzas. We also cater for functions and barbecues, large or small.
In the Scotch Pie Awards in recent years we have won Gold Awards for our Steak & Gravy Pie (2014), Creamy Chicken with Mushroom, Leak & Stilton Pie (2015) and Scotch Pie (2016).
