COLYTON Butchers’ pork sausages are the tastiest in the whole of the southwest!

That’s according to judges at the National Federation of Meat Traders Awards who awarded the business the title of Supreme Sausage Champion in Ilminster on Sunday, October 21.

Head butcher Anton Bolton will have to install a bigger trophy cabinet soon as this award was the second in as many months, with Colyton Butchers also winning the title of Southwest Sausage Champion at the British Pig Executive Awards in September.

Anton said: “To win the two biggest sausage competitions in the whole of the southwest is a real accolade.

“There were hundreds of entries there from all over the region and for a panel of independent judges to choose ours not once, but twice, it’s a real honour.”

Anton puts his success down to free range pork and a secret 50 year-old recipe passed on to him from an elderly butcher many years ago.

“I’ve tweaked the recipe to bring out the best in it,” he said.

Anton will take the secret recipe to the national finals next year in the hope of becoming champion of champions at the prestigious Smithfield Awards in London.
