Calling all sausage champions! Do not miss out on your chance to stake your claim to the ultimate sausage accolade.

MTJ is gearing up for its annual Champion of Champions sausage competition, which aims to discover the best banger in the UK.

The competition pitches award-winning sausage-makers from across the UK against each other in a bid to find out which one can be declared the overall Champion of Champions. The event will take place at Butchers’ Hall, London on 27 October and is being supported by BPEX, Lucas Ingredients and Colfan HL from Naturin/Viscofan.

Last year’s event saw butcher Michael Bachyk, of Michael Kirk in Wolverhampton take home the trophy with his Traditional Pork Sausage. He described the experience as fantastic.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: “Winning Champion of Champions is a great opportunity for butchers, as it can help boost sausage sales considerably and pull in punters from miles around. Previous winners have seen the sales of their top sausages more than double.”

The competition is open to anyone who has been declared a champion in one of the UK’s many regional sausage evaluations and competitions any time between 1 July, 2007 and 30 June, 2008.
