Royal baby Prince George inspires Louth sausage competition

To celebrate the birth of the Royal baby, Meridian Meats of Louth ran a competition on its Facebook page to give away the baby’s weight in sausages! Jim Sutcliffe of Meridian Meats said: “We thought it would be a bit of fun to mark the birth of William and Kate’s first born prince.”

The competition to guess the baby’s name was launched within minutes of the announcement of the birth and proved very popular, with over 150 entries. The prize, 8lb 6oz of Meridian Meat’s Celebration Bucks Fizz sausage being awarded for the first person to guess the babies name correctly and a winner was selected once Kensington Palace formally announced the Prince of Cambridge’s name.

The winner Roger England entered with George, Louis, Alexander, William, so with all three names, albeit not quite in the right order, he was a clear winner and was presented with his sausages from Meridian Meats.

Jim said: “We were really pleased how well the competition was received and it showed the changing shape of business through mediums such as Facebook and Twitter, it was such a success that we hope to run more like it very soon!”
