Ormskirk’s Brough Butchers nominated for Everton toffee mint sausages award

ORMSKIRK’S Brough Butchers are up for an award for their Everton sausages.

The Blues supporters came up with the idea for a toffee mint flavoured pork sausage after their team made it through to the final of the FA Cup at Wembley against Chelsea.

Unfortunately for Everton they lost 2-1, but fortunately for Brough’s, the sausages went down a storm.

Now Mark Shepherd and his team are up for Innovation of the Year at the Meat Trader’s Journal Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards 2009 which are being held in London on November 17.

Managing director, Mark, said: “We are absolutely made up, everyone loved the sausages.

“People went mental over them, we were in the MEN, the ECHO, the Sun. We were on Setanta and Sky Sports and the radio, it was mad.”

Describing the taste, Mark said the sausages are lovely and sweet – with a kick of mint.

“What started out as something small and escalated into something massive.”

So what are the secret ingredients that make ot work so well?

Mark said: “It’s a closely guarded secret, you’ll have to try them and figure it out for yourself.”
