Notts sausage triumphs in ‘Butchers’ BAFTAs’

ARNOLD butcher AE Chambers won a brace of gold awards for sausages and bacon at the 2013 Smithfield Awards.

Its pork, cheese and spring onion sausage and traditional middle bacon wowed the judges at the competition – known as the Butchers’ BAFTAs – for butchers nationwide.

Scott Barlow Butchers in Kirkby-in-Ashfield scooped a hat trick of golds for its steak and real ale pie, ploughman’s pie and triple smoked bacon.

And Derbyshire butcher Owen Taylor and Sons, which supplies meat to some of Nottingham’s top restaurants including Hart’s, scooped five gold awards.

Awards were presented by celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
