A Leamington butcher’s and delicatessen is celebrating having one of its sausages named as the best in the county.

Aubrey Allen, in Warwick Street, won the Heart of England Fine Foods Tastiest Warwickshire Breakfast Sausage competition with its ‘Cotswold’ recipe.

This variety was also entered into the West Midlands final, which took place in Birmingham on Thursday.

Aubrey Allen director Russell Allen said: “We are delighted that our sausages have once again been recognised by expert tasters in the industry.

“We have more than 44 recipes for sausages and the Cotswold is definitely an old favourite with customers.”

Another recipe of the butcher’s sausages, the Warwickshire Whizzer, was highly commended in the speciality section.

The competition took place as part of national Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
