Farm shop brings home sausage awards

SAUSAGES produced from home-reared pork have been highly awarded by a meat marketting agency.

Uncle Henry’s Farm Shop at Grayingham was set up as an outlet for Steve and Meryl Ward’s prime pork produce and has developed into one of the area’s premier places for local produce.

Now the butchery team has brought home awards for its bacon, black pudding and sausage range.

At the BPEX Regional Road show, three gold awards were won for Uncle Henry’s farmhouse, red arrow and lamb and mint and rosemary sausages.

Silver awards were gained for Ploughman jack and the Lincolnshire caramelised onion sausages and also the home made black pudding and traditional short back bacon.

Ploughman Jack sausage is created by butchery assistant Jack Reeve who was also entered into the Young Sausage Maker of the Year award, and came second by one point, the ingredients in his creation being cheddar cheese, apple and chutney.

As previously reported, Uncle Henry’s was also Highly Commended in two Lincolnshire Taste categories for best tearooms and best restaurant.
