Celebrity face for British Sausage Week

Channel 4 host and chef Simon Rimmer will be taking part in British Sausage Week (BSW) this year by educating consumers about good quality sausages in Britain.

The Sunday Brunch co-host will be taking consumers around Britain to discover more about sausages as he stresses the importance of quality produce.

Rimmer said: “I’m thrilled to be undertaking a journey of discovery to find Britain’s Greatest Sausages. We have some of the best produce in the world and it is important that we continue to support our producers.

“One way to do this is by highlighting quality sausages that carry an assurance mark like the Red Tractor. This not only means traceability but also ensures the sausages are from pigs farmed by responsible farmers.”

With three restaurants and multiple cookbooks including Men Love Pies, Girls Like Hummus, Rimmer explains recognises that the “beauty of sausages is their versatility”.

Bpex product and butchery development manager Keith Fisher said: “It’s a real privilege to have Simon at the forefront of this year’s campaign and to lead our nationwide competition, which has received hundreds of entries. I’m certain that his high profile will help put sausages firmly in the spotlight and encourage consumers to get behind the Week.”

The meat industry is encouraged to get involved by using messages and promotional activity, in-store tastings, customer competitions, promotional offers, and so on.

BSW will run from 4-10 November and is this year encouraging consumers to look for quality assured and Red Tractor sausages.
