Morris Adamson, from Rothbury Family Butchers, received a coveted British Sausage Week Banger Award for his traditional pork sausage.

The ceremony took place in London on Tuesday, November 3, as part of British Sausage Week, which this year celebrated the nation’s Sausages of Distinction. Two-star Michelin chef Michel Roux Jr attended the event.

After finding out that his banger had been crowned the best traditional sausage in the North East, Mr Adamson said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to win. It’s a huge honour to be named the best traditional sausage in the region, especially as we knew that competition was tough this year given then standard of entries.

“Winning has definitely been one of the highlights of our year and we’re proud to be taking home the Banger Award this year.

“The trip to the awards ceremony in London was fantastic and meeting Michel Roux Jr was a real honour. He was a nice man and had lots of time for everyone there.”

Rothbury Family Butchers has built a great reputation among locals and visitors for its award-winning sausages and sends products nationwide via its online shop – rothburyfamilybutchers.co.uk
Michel Roux Jr, who is British Sausage Week ambassador, was delighted with the standard of the products.

He said: “I’m delighted to be involved in British Sausage Week and celebrate the best-quality sausages from around the country.
