BREAK-IN SMASHES CONTEST CHANCES

A butcher’s shop in Gloucestershire has been forced to pull out of national competition and left to pick up the pieces after a devastating break-in.

Thieves broke-into Cam Family Butchers in Cam through the back door sometime during the evening of 23 October and the morning of 24 October, stealing money and expensive meat and leaving a mess in their wake.

Butcher Mark Carr was due to attend the Foodservice Sausage of the Year Competition in London the next day with his Three Shires Apple and Herb Sausage, but was forced to spend the day cleaning up the shop instead and was unable to have his sausages judged.

Shop manager Zoe Ball said: “We all wanted him to go because this was big for him but the shop comes first. He did ring them up but rules are rules at the end of the day. It is such a shame.”

Cam Butchers are no strangers to crime after a break-in last December and in the local area, a catering butcher recently suffered a similar fate.
